In Show #36, we feature four great OTR programs. Included are the likes of Joe Friday, Matt Dillon and Professor William Todhunter Hall along with his wonderfully ebullient wife, Victoria,

We will also visit Jack Doc & Reggie who we find stranded in the small desert town of Bury Your Dead, Arizona where they are the victims of The Maestro and Nasha.   It's a great lineup!

Dragnet on radio:

Detective Joe Friday is assigned to auto theft. A gang of car strippers have been operating in Los Angeles and it’s obvious they are professionals.

Friday and his partner are given the job of bringing them in. But when a sixteen-year-old boy is killed in a crash while resisting arrest, it gets personal. Real personal.

I Love A Mystery

Bury Your Dead, Arizona - I Love A Mystery

The boys wake up to find their boxcar set aside on a spur and abandoned in the middle of the desert. Upon further investigation, they discover they have actually arrived in a town called Bury Your Dead, Arizona (pop 20)!

Along with Nasha and The Maestro, they meet their first citizen, jumping Dick, who proclaims he has a beautiful daughter.

This is a fun episode and here are some things to look for:  Nasha's remarks about what she will do to any man who accosts her are hilarious.  Also, the Maestro struggling to get down out of the boxcar, unassisted, is funny, funny, funny.

The Halls of Ivy

The Halls of Ivy Old Time Radio Show

When a very strange family claims squatter's rites on the Ivy campus, board chairman Clarence Wellman wants them evicted and assigns Dr. Hall the job.  Professor Hall, however, discovers they are victims of circumstance and really fine folks.

Meanwhile, the census taker is calling on all members of Ivy College. The way in which Doctor Hall uses the census in a battle of wits with Mr. Wellman, as well as a way to assist the family,  makes for a very fresh and witty story.

I particularly love Toddy's dream sequence and also his on-again-off-again discussion with the census taker. Very funny stuff!

Gunsmoke on radio: No Indians

When deadly Indian raids result in the slaughter of a number of innocent families on the Kansas prairie, Matt and Chester investigate and reach some surprising conclusions.

The story reaches its climax when Matt is forced to violate his own sense of morality. Does the end justify the means? This is an adult western. Believe me when I tell you that you would not hear this story on Hopalong Cassidy!

I rate this episode of Gunsmoke as outstanding.

Okay, kids --- go and have fun listening to all of these great shows!
